In him we might become the righteousness of God

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

With God all things are possible

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed

However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.

In God I trust and am not afraid

In God, whose word I praise— in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

Whoever comes to me I will never drive away

All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

Worship on Sunday, March 1

As we are on the second Sunday of Lent, we will be learning about the message of the CROSS. Most of the time, when we look at the cross, we see torture, pain, suffering, loss and rejection. However, the real meaning of the cross of Christ is: triumph and hope.

The Gospel of Mark tells us that during the entire ministry of Jesus—His mind and heart and mission are pointed to Jerusalem and the cross that await him. He has one purpose—that is the CROSS. In Mark 8:31-38, Christ calls us to Follow Him, Take Up Our Cross, and Deny Ourselves. In order to learn more about this, please come and join us at First Baptist Church of Hudson. Our worship begins at 10:30 a.m.

We will continue the Adult Sunday school study series on “Give Up Harsh, Condemning Judgments for Lent” chapter 2 from James Moore’s Give Up Something Bad For Lent. Also read: Matthew 7:1-5 for this class.

For worship, please read: Mark 8:31-38

31 He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again. 32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” 34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. 36 What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? 37 Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
